David Gonski AO in Conversation with Helen Trinca
'The New Philanthropic Professionalism'

Wednesday 18 October 06

Philanthropy in the professional world is only set to grow. Helen Trinca engaged David in an engaging discussion on what he sees as the big trends around philanthropy. David presented views on how the government and philanthropy play complementary roles in the servicing of our society and environment. He reminded us that it is not the role of the corporation to provide financial philanthropy, but they may provide leadership in enabling their stakeholders to do so.

David Gonski AO is widely acknowledged as a leading visionary with regards to philanthropy in Australia. The immediate past Chairman of the Australia Council for the Arts, David is also the Chancellor of the University of NSW, Chairman of Investec Group in Australia, Chairman of Coca-Cola Amatil Ltd, President of the Board of Trustees of the Art Gallery of NSW, former Chairman of NIDA, former Chairman of Morgan Stanley and current Director of Westfield, ANZ and Singapore Airlines Ltd.

Helen Trinca is editor of AFR BOSS, the leadership and management magazine published by the Australian Financial Review. Helen is a highly sought after commentator on the significant trends in the corporate world.
