![]()
"In a world that is going a little too fast.….. Indigenous Wisdom may hold some of the answers non-Indigenous people are looking for" Melanie Hogan About 140 Members and guests participated in a highly informative and moving event that helped us connect, listen and understand more about the historical relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians and what needs to be done to move forward. A special screening of Kanyini, a poetic and gentle documentary about the issues facing many Indigenous Australians was held. Described as a film all Australians should see, Kanyini is told through the eyes of aboriginal elder Uncle Bob Randall and showed us how we can start to bridge the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. Jeff McMullen, presenter of ABC's Difference of Opinion, explored the issues presented in more detail with film maker Melanie Hogan after the screening. Guests were also treated to a fantastic live didgeridoo performance from entertainer Adam Hill and an art exhibition from the Australian Aboriginal Art Gallery. Two exciting opportunities to get involved were provided through: Indigenous Community Volunteers – Volunteer your professional skills to a wide range of projects in Aboriginal communities across Australia; from The Pilbara to Cape York. ICV has assisted over 1000 projects in 7 years. www.icv.com.au
