“And the Winner is Sydney”

Supporting the Success of Sustainable Sydney 2030

Catalyst Climate Change Café 02

Thursday 26 June 08

Catalyst in partnership with the City of Sydney Catalyst joined with the City of Sydney to explore what it will take for Sydney to achieve the bold target of a 70% cut in greenhouse gas emissions presented in the Sustainable Sydney 2030 Vision. This will require new levels of collaboration amongst the city’s stakeholders and participants collaborated in the Catalyst Café format to explore what might bring this about.

After the scene was set by the guest speakers below, participants used iMEET computer technology to accelerate the café and illustrator, Joseph Loewy, captured the big themes of the night on the large canvas shown above (synopsis below).

Monica Barone, CEO City of Sydney, introduced Sustainable Sydney 2030, its climate change goals and how it is going to unfold over coming months and years.

David Hodes, thought leader in methods of collaboration in complex multi-stakeholder initiatives, introduced some key principles around collaboration and the inspiring example of the Sustainable Foodlab, a global collaborative project to review our worldwide food supply-chains.

From this very successful event, a project group of approximately 30 people formed to explore the application of Theory U (Otto Sharmer, Peter Senge et al) in helping to cause the dialogue and collaboration required for the Sustainable Sydney 2030 Vision.
