Catalyst Christmas Celebration
'Endless Possibilities for 2007'

Wednesday 6 December 06

What are some inspiring possibilities for making a difference in the world in 2007?

Catalyst invited three of its rising stars to share what they saw for 2007. Coupled with the Rick Melick Trio live on stage and the sumptuous surrounds of the Vodka Trust Lounge at the Equilibrium Hotel, it was a great completion to a tremendous Catalyst year!

Prashanth Shanmugan is not only building a career in the Australian corporate world, but has also built a global reputation for his passionate advocacy in humanitarian law and human rights. On Australia Day in 2000 Prashanth was named Australian Young Citizen of the Year. In 2001 he was selected by the United Nations as Global Ambassador for the United Nations Global Atlas of Human Rights. He was a finalist for Young Australian of the Year in 2002.

Lalita Ari
is an Account Manager for IBM. Beyond that, she is a founder of Oasis Africa Australia, a brand new charity successfully building an orphanage for hundreds of orphans in the Africa’s largest slum, the Kibera Slum in Nairobi. Lalita proves that generating passion with the people around you can cause miraculous results. With her partners, Lalita created the orphanage in literally a matter of months. The inaugural Oasis Africa Australia fundraiser in October this year generated over $170 000.

Michael Hann
sees bringing the right people together and facilitating powerful co-learning and development journeys does have the ability to create great change in the world. Some of Michael’s transformational work was at Unilever, where he and his colleagues ran a highly successful program that transformed the effectiveness of some of Unilever’s major businesses and brands.

One of these programs lead to a major social innovation program to address village poverty in Northern India, and Dove’s ‘Campaign For Real Beauty’ emerged from another.  Michael is part of several global initiatives that demonstrate what’s possible when we convene government, business and community leaders using a highly collaborative approach to problem solving and innovation.
